Vancouver Train Expo

Hearing about this event back in September, I knew I had to be there. It sounded like a perfect opportunity to meet with a passionate community of enthusiasts and document the event. I reached out to the organisers and was lucky to secure access for the event, and most exciting for me, getting access for the setup of the event the day before it opened to the public.

I shot the event with my Fujifilm GFX 100S, GF32-64 lens, and a Godox AD200, which I use with the extension head to allow for easy switching between on and off camera flash. I love this setup for events, the lens gives me flexibility in composition, and the flash is powerful and the battery easily lasts an entire day. The downside is the weight, after three full days of shooting my back was f*cked!

Aside from the exhibitors and the public I really wanted to get some good detail shots. To me, a good detail shot can really elevate the storytelling and it’s just fun looking for quirky details when there’s not much going on or you need a break from interacting with people.

I have the full set of images posted here if you’re interested.

This was such a fun, wholesome event to document and hopefully I didn’t piss anybody off too much with my flash and I’ll get to return next year.

Thanks for reading ❤️
